Bee Balm

Bee Balm, which is also known as Wild Bergamot, or Monarda.  These lovely flowers attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.  The flowers have a citrus like aroma and flavor that is used in Earl Grey Tea, and its leaves when chewed taste like a blend of spearmint and peppermint.  It is a relative to the mint plant, so it can be used as a mint substitute.

Bee Balm is bound to Air, and Mercury, and due to the influence of both of these; Air for intellect, and Mercury for success, it is believed to be a wonderful herb for money and success in business spells.  Carry a few leaves in your wallet to attract money, and rub some leaves or its oil on your skin before a business meeting or job interview for success.

It is also a great herb by itself or combined with other herbs for any spells or rituals that call for a tea or infusion, as it really tastes great too!

A is for Athame

By definition, the Athame is a double edged bladed knife with a black or dark handle, which is used for directing energy during Wiccan rituals and/or spells.  It is also not to be used for cutting.

The Athame can be of any size you would like it to be and can be as plain or ornate as you might like it to be.  My first one was quite small with a wooden handle.  The whole thing was maybe 5 inches in length.  But my current Athame is much larger and a bit more ornate.  I found it by chance.  My husband and I had gone to Ren Faire one summer, and in one of the booths, there it was.  I loved it instantly, and knew I had to have it!!

Still getting my feet wet in the blogging pool.  Next week I will try to dig deeper into my postings!

Have a Blessed week everyone!

Anointing

I am sooo very sorry to be late with my first Blog for the Pagan Blog Project!  But I worked a 16 hour shift yesterday, the night shift into the day shift, and when I got home I just passed out.

I am blogging about Anointing candles this week, it is also called "dressing" a candle.  This is done for candles that will be used in ritual and/or spellwork.  There are a few methods of doing so, but this one is a general, all-purpose oil anointing method that is commonly used.

First choose your candle's color for intent, or just use a white candle which can be used for any purpose.  Then choose your oil for it's intent as well.  Hold your candle in your less dominant hand, the actual anointing will be done with your dominant hand.

Starting in the center of the candle, rub oil up the candle towards the wick, and do this all the way around the candle till it is well coated.  All the while focusing on your intent while doing so.  Then repeat this, starting from the center of the candle and rubbing toward the bottom of the candle till it is well coated.  All the while focusing on your intent.  For instance, if you are anointing the candle for the purpose of increasing your prosperity, see in your minds eye you already having what it is that you need, etc.

Your candle is now ready to be placed in the proper candle holder and burned as part of your ritual and/or spell.

Hope you have enjoyed this as much as I have.  Looking forward to next weeks blog!!!
